Rocky Road Outfitters Facilities

Welcome to the iZook Ultimate Project Build Off Series. The plan is to build two trucks at the same time using products purchased from different aftermarket specialist. These are the people who have supported our Suzuki truck habits for many years. Companies like Trail Tough, Rocky Road Outfitters, Petroworks, Samurai Salvage, Spidertrax, Rock 4x Fabrication, ShrockWorks and Aftermarket4x4.com will be showcased.

So just what is all the hype about? Trucks being built with the results of Monster Garage, the talents of Biker Build Off, and the drama of Orange County Choppers. You think the dad is tough! Wait until you meet Dirt Diva and the Admiral! Now they are tough, and ready to build the most capable off road Samurais you have ever witnessed. When complete these trucks will be unveiled at the 2006 ZookiMelt. Of course you will be able to follow our progress during the build. We will have articles documenting the entire process; this will include snippets of streaming video!

I have a house full of computers, a Samurai in the garage and a husband who spends all of his time between the two. I love being outdoors, four wheeling and the meeting new people at off road events.  I have been involved with the hobby since the early 90's so I figured it was time to get involved in our Samurai upgrades. I have been told I am a good mechanic. Now it is time to show that in addition to going off-road every chance I get  that I can build them as well.

Select for larger imageGot home after being with the grand kids most of the day and there was an unexpected package at the door. So who is this from? Get inside the house with box in hand. Looking at the return address it is from Glenn and Jennifer owners of Rocky Road Outfitters.

There is a note from them enclosed within the shipping label packet. "Hi guy's, This package is for Terrina and Rae to share during the build-off. Hey just so you know, we're not trying to sway any opinions over there as to who has the nicest staff... but please enjoy these shirts ;-)"

"Jennifer BeDazzled these herself. I am just trying to keep her away from all the other clothing items in stock. She has at this point done all of hers'.

Have fun with the build-off,"

Glenn and Jennifer

Open up the box,  there are two tee shirts that have had a little bling added to  their logos.

Thank you from the entire iZook staff. We will have to see about the nicest staff ;-)

Well it has been a few years since I have turned a wrench. The old blue zook is long gone, sold when I was pregnant. Its place in the garage was filled by the Tracker. The family truck, purchased from good wheeling friends Jim and Kim Mazzola. The Tracker was complete and capable to do anything we wanted off road. It is safe and reliable and my son who is now almost three loves his seat  in it.

But things change, my husband and I are itching again, and it ain’t cause of fleas. We have the itch to build another truck. We have two hard top Samurai’s neither of which are running. Both would make a great project. Something to get dirty working on, and do something we both enjoy turning wrenches. Of course there is Jim, my father in law, and family handy man. Jim’s garage is going to be home to our Red Tin Top during its transformation.  He is a willing participant in the whole deal, which is nice cause he has all the cool tools we never think to buy.  Although I am not sure he knows all of what he has gotten himself into.

So the parts are starting to roll in, and the build up will be starting soon. It is time to show the lot of you that I can turn a wrench as good as I can turn the steering wheel. Stay tuned, we are hoping that this Tin Top will be an awesome rig when completed for the ‘melt next year.
