8:1 Transfer case gears

Rocky Road has now released the lowest gears on the planet for your Samurai.
Their 8:1 SUPERCrawler gearset drops your high range 24%, and your low range a MONSTER 260%!!! Now you can have the power and torque to compete with competition rockcrawlers without having to go thru the expense and trouble of adding in extra gearboxes to get that power.

Because of this great drop in high range gearing, the SUPERCrawler gears are the ONLY gearset on the market designed to fully correct for 33" tires on the highway. What this means for you is a properly geared system while maintaining full factory ring and pinion strength. Feel the POWER both on and offroad with these revolutionary gears.

Precise manufacturing tolerances exceed factory specs. They are also the only gears on the planet to come with ground teeth for better noise control on the highway. As well, they are built from +9000 series alloy.

Front Tow Crawler

Click through for a closer look...Let's face it, the stock bumpers suck. Not only do they stick way out, they're only one step above a beer can when it comes to strength. Rocky Road's Crawler bumpers have been on the market for many years now, but they just added a new tow bar setup for their Front Crawler bumper.

Dragging your Samurai around by the nose just got real easy. The Front Tow Crawler is a completely bolt-on bumper with many options available for real customization. They can even offset the mounting for you if you have a body lift. This new setup comes complete with a tow bar for a 2" hitch ball. Coupled with their 6 point frame mounting system, this setup gives you true security when dragging your favorite little tow behind your tow rig.

Rocky Road Rockrails!

Rocky Road Outfitters RockrailsRocky Road Outfitters Rockrails. If only the Titanic had had these on.....

Rocky Road is well known in Jeeping circles for their lifetime guaranteed Rockrails. They now bring that same design, engineering, and strength to your Tracker or Vitara!

All Rocky Road Rockrails come with a lifetime warranty against bending or dents. They are indestructible. Can you use them for a HiLift jack? HA! If a rocker guard can't hold up to a silly jack, how is it going to handle a rock slamming into the vehicle. OF COURSE you can use Rocky Road Rockrails with a HiLift.

Most rocker "protection" on the market is less than 1/8" tube and wears the moniker of "Nerf Bars". Rockrails are built from 3/16" thick hitch tubing and function as true rocker protection. The mounting system is also well engineered. Rocky Road balances the mounting strength between the frame rail and the body seam. These combined make for a rock solid mount system that protect your vehicle from the ravages of even the harshest trails. Installation of these rocker guard is as easy as it gets.

The Rockrails work with no body lift up to 3" of body lift with a snug fit at every level. Please specify when ordering.

If you're ready to take your rocker protection serious, step up to Rocky Road Rockrails.

2WD Low Transfer Case Shifter

We (iZook) had the opportunity to test the RROR prototype "2WD Low" transfer case shifter at the ZookiMelt this year. Want to keep your balls where they belong? Tired of trying to find the shifting pattern of your transfer case? This fall you will be able to install this new shifter component. It will replace your stock fork. I can tell you it passed all tests we threw at it over the week we were at the Badlands Off-road Park. I was able to test this new shifter in a case that had the Mega Crawler 6:1 installed, all I can say is you want these installed in your truck! Look for the complete install and review in the September issue. With the 2WD Low shifter and the 6.1 gears you can put the truck in 2 or 4wd low, point and crawl over any obstacle. Add these components to your Christmas list.

Over-The-Top® Steering System

The OTT steering system is a true knuckle over steering system. Not only is the drag link moved to the top of the knuckles for complete elimination of bump steer on taller lifts, the tie rod is also flipped to the topside. This means super high clearance for your steering system to protect against trail damage. The system is easily serviceable by using common ball joints that are easily found at all auto parts stores. Rocky Road can also supply various sized ball joints to fit custom power steering applications from a variety of vehicle. The linkage itself is from thick walled DOM tube for excellent strength and no flex in the system and precise steering characteristics. The knuckle arms are are NOT cast or welded. Rocky Road is carving each arm from ultra-burly machine grade steel. The system also comes with an interesting new bolt system for super strength at each knuckle. Look for the Over-The-Top® Steering System later this month. For more information contact Rocky Road at gwbuild@rocky-road.com, or head over to their website at www.rocky-road.com/zukworks.html

Also keep on eye on their website later this month for sneak peaks at their highly anticipated replacement bodies coming this Summer!

Megacrawler 6:1

Our prayers have been answered, the long wait is over..... transfer case gears for the 21st Century!!! These incredible gears work much in the same way as the old 4.16 gears Samurai owners have been loving for years, only much better! With a 6:1 low range, you get a 170% reduction in low range. A full 24% high range reduction means you'll be perfect for 33" tires without having to touch the ring and pinions. Megacrawler gears work great with any tire size though. What this means for you is a properly geared system while maintaining full factory ring and pinion strength. Feel the POWER both on and offroad with these revolutionary gears.

Megacrawler gears are produced by one of the top gear manufacturers for Formula 1 race cars on the European circuit. Precise manufacturing tolerances and an innovative larger tooth pattern allow these gearsets to be quieter than any other low gearset on the market. As well, they are built from +9000 series alloy which dwarfs the strength ratings of other 8620 alloy gears coming to market. As a result, Rocky Road is pleased to announce Mega gears come with a full factory warranty.

Gear kits come with easy to follow instructions with plenty of pictures.

Cross-Drilled Rotors

The quest for ever-increasing off-road prowess leads inevitably to modifications and accessories. One of the most basic modifications for 4wheelers is larger tires. Larger tires dramatically lengthen stopping distance though; recent tests show a 10' increase in braking distance for every inch increased in tire diameter! All-terrain tires and especially mud tire lugs grip pavement less effectively than street patterns. Lift kits raise vehicle mass and can over-bias the front brakes. Four-wheeling with tools, beefy bumpers, winches, coolers of food, and loaded racks further increase stopping distances - and most of that mass stays on or in your vehicle even when just driving around town. The result can be that your Zuk brakes worse on the pavement -- but it doesn't have to be that way.

What you'll notice with cross-drilled rotors...... The reduction in stopping distance is remarkable, but the most dramatic effect is the utter lack of fade. With the stock brakes, super steep and long descents are oftimes nerve-wracking and often require downshifting and selecting lower transmission gears just to "save" and assist the brakes. With cross-drilled rotors, the margin of safety is noticeably wider, and you no longer need to remain alert to brake temperatures.
