Click through for a closer look...Click through for a closer look...The oil filter tools that most shade-tree mechanics are used to won't work on a Zook oil filter, because the oil filters are much smaller than the filters on the bigger V8s. The smaller oil filter wrench was found at the local auto parts store. The old filter was removed and the rubber gasket on the new filter was lubed for an easier fit before it was spun into place.

Click through for a closer look...Click through for a closer look...The last filter was the hardest to replace. This was because of its location as it sits inside the passenger side frame rail, right in front of the rear axle. As Amber slid back under the Zook to find out what tools to use. She found a single retainer bolt that was removed with a 10mm wrench. The only problem she found was when the gas ran down her arm as she tried to swap the filters...  so Dad came to the rescue with a couple of additional hands.

Although the Hawk Strictly Suzuki Tune Up Kit didn't come with fluids, there were still a few that needed to be checked or topped off. The brake fluid reservoir is the easiest to check out because the reservoir is semi transparent. Just make sure the level is at the maximum level on the side. The windshield wiper fluid is another easy check, we needed about a half gallon. Let's not forget the radiator fluid needs to be checked out. We had already flushed the system prior to this project, so we didn't go through that part here. But it is important to replace it at least once a year and then the level must be maintained by filling the overflow container.

Click through for a closer look...Click through for a closer look...Last but not least, Amber checked out the oil level in the differentials. They need to be filled to the point where you can feel the oil just inside the check plug.

We didn't cover the transmission or transfer case fluids. But we will, so keep an eye on this article. Amber is far from finished with this rig, as it is the newest project vehicle for iZook.

Keep an eye out for...
