Petroworks has been kind enough to give iZook permission to reprint this "Quick Fix" article. This is an article from a series that you can find at the Petroworks web site. Look for down loadable video files in the future that will be provided by the great crew of Petroworks. Please visit their newly designed web site at Http://www.petroworks.com Tools Required: Optional:· Phillips screw driver Steps:· Torque wrench (It is not necessary to torque down the bolts that are removed in this fix. We recommend however that you do. The torque specifications are listed on back.) Torque Specifications1. Put transmission in neutral. Shift Bolt 13 lb-ft Finding the Broken End If you’ve lost the broken end of the shift bolt in the transmission you will need to find it. First try the magnet pin or a pair of needle nose pliers. If you still cannot get the broken end out you will need to drain the transmission oil. Once the oil is drained, pour some transmission oil down the rear of the transmission where the shift lever goes in. This may wash the broken end out of the transmission. If this still doesn’t work, we recommend you take the transmission to a transmission service shop. |
